Rubbish & recycling

Three bins, three streams. Sort in the kitchen, empty into the matching bin at the back of the house, and put them out on the right day. Here's the whole routine.

What goes in which bin

GreenGlass only
  • Glass bottles & jars, rinsed
  • Any colour — clear, green or brown
  • No drinking glasses, ceramics or mirrors — those go burgundy
YellowPackaging, paper & metal
Loose — never bagged
  • Paper, flattened cardboard, cartons
  • Plastic bottles, tubs, clean film & wrap
  • Tins, cans, foil & metal lids, rinsed
  • No greasy or food-soiled items
BurgundyGeneral waste
  • Food waste & anything not recyclable
  • Dirty packaging, broken crockery
  • Bag it, tie it — when in doubt, it goes here

Sorting in the kitchen

  • Small bin — paper, plastics & metal. Tip into the yellow bin, loose.
  • Small bin — general waste. Tip into the burgundy bin.
  • The gap between them — glass bottles. Carry to the green bin.
  • All three big bins live at the back of the house between collections.

Yellow goes out every Wednesday, all year. In winter, green (glass) is collected fortnightly on Fridays: 13 & 27 Nov · 11 & 25 Dec · 15 & 29 Jan · 12 & 26 Feb · 12 & 26 Mar. Per the Golfe de Saint-Tropez calendar for 373 Bd de Grimaud (Sept 2026 – Aug 2027); a new calendar is issued each year.

Putting the bins out

  • Collection point is outside the fence by gate 2.
  • Put bins out the night before — better still, early on the morning of collection.
  • After collection, bring every bin back and return it to the back of the house.
  • Use the rack at the collection point.
  • Rack the yellow and burgundy at the very least.

Wild boar. Boar roam here and will tip and empty bins — they go straight for the yellow and burgundy. The less time bins stand at the collection point, the better, so aim for the morning of pickup and always use the rack.
