Making a coffee
Your Gaggenau machine grinds fresh beans for every cup. Here's everything you need for a good one.
Switch it on
Press the on/off button on the front. It rinses itself, then the rings around the on/off and brew buttons glow green — ready in about a minute.
Choose your cup
With the selector on coffee, turn one dial for the size (espresso up to large) and the other for the strength (mild to strong).
Press Café
Slide the spout down to your cup and press the lit Café button. It grinds and pours automatically. Press it again to stop early.

Refills & trays
Water
Hold the grip, slide the machine forward on its runners and lift the lid. Take out the tank, fill with cold water to the max line, and slide it all back.
Beans
With the machine pulled forward, open the bean lid and pour in ordinary roasted beans. Nothing oily, very dark or flavoured — it can jam the grinder.
Trays
Pull the bottom tray towards you and lift out the grounds tray behind it. Tip both out and slide them back. The grounds tray is dishwasher-safe.
Frothing milk
Pour a little cold milk into a jug and dip the wand just below the surface. Turn the knob beside the wand to steam; turn it back to coffee once the foam looks right.
Take care
The wand and steam are very hot — hold the jug, never the wand, and give the wand a quick wipe after frothing.
If the screen shows…
Refill the water tank with cold water.
Refill the beans, then press Café again.
Empty both trays and slide them back in.
Push the inner compartment fully closed.
